Common questions

How much is VA disability per month?
It depends on your combined rating and your dependents. For December 1, 2025, a veteran alone receives $180.42 at 10% up to $3,938.58 at 100%, with higher amounts when you have a spouse, children, or dependent parents. The full chart is above.
Do dependents change my VA disability pay?
Not at 10% or 20%: those rates are the same regardless of dependents. Starting at 30%, having a spouse, children, or dependent parents adds to your monthly amount.
When do VA disability rates change?
Rates are adjusted each year by the same cost-of-living increase applied to Social Security, announced in the fall and effective December 1. The chart on this page reflects the rates effective December 1, 2025.
Is this the amount I will actually receive?
This is the published federal rate table, not a promise of an individual payment. Your actual amount is decided by the VA and can differ based on additional dependents, special monthly compensation, or offsets. Always confirm your own amount with the VA or an accredited representative.
