VA disability benefits by rating

Your combined rating is more than a compensation amount. It is the eligibility key that federal programs, and many state programs, check first. These pages list what may open at each rating level, from 10% to 100%, with the official citation on every program and the agency that actually decides. Educational only: we explain what exists; we never assess anyone’s claim.

Amounts are the veteran-alone monthly compensation effective December 1, 2025, parsed from VA.gov and pinned against the Federal Register cost-of-living notice.

Federal first, state where you live

Federal programs, like VA health-care priority groups, commissary and exchange access, and the civil-service hiring preference, apply to every veteran regardless of state. State programs, like property tax exemptions and license waivers, are often the largest ones and vary by state. The Benefits Explorer merges both into one list keyed to your rating and state.
